McCarty Purchases Madrid Automotive

Aaron McCarty purchased Madrid Automotive from Roger Peterson in October of 2019. McCarty has always been interested in cars and has been working for Peterson since 1999.

While Madrid Automotive started in the 1970s, it had a different name: K-L Auto Parts. Peterson has owned the business since 1986. For a portion of these years, Madrid Automotive offered small engine repair in addition to parts sales.  MCarty is eager to carry on the tradition of excellent customer service, focusing on selling the right part for the right repair. Since he has been mentored by Peterson in the business for two decades, McCarty has the experience to help you determine what you need. If the part must be ordered, it’s available the next day. Peterson will continue to work at the store as well.

When your car breaks, it’s helpful to continue to have access to parts in town. Be sure to stop by Madrid Automotive and congratulate McCarty!

Market of Madrid Owner Ivan Thede Named Retailer of the Year

The Iowa Grocery Industry Association recognized the Market of Madrid as the 2019 Retailer of the Year! The award recognizes a retail professional for outstanding work ethic and commitment to his or her store, employees and community.

Thede started helping his father with his job deliveries when he was 9 years old, which instilled a strong work ethic. He has continued to build success and improve business at every store he has worked in, and he is always looking for ways to improve the Market of Madrid. He enjoys building relationships with customers and is willing to carry products that are requested. His children and granchildren have worked in the store, allowing the entire family to bond with the Madrid community.

Recent changes to the Market of Madrid include new refrigerator cases, which are more energy efficient. Ivan says that other changes may be coming soon, such as “food to go” options like deli sandwiches and wonder roast chickens, which have both suggested by local patrons.

Be sure to stop in and congratulate Ivan on the “Retailer of the Year” award!
