Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation to Purchase 4-H Camp Land near Madrid

The Clover Woods 4-H Camp, including over 1,000 acres, went up for public auction in September. The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation (INHF) made an offer on the entire property, which was accepted by the 4-H Foundation Board. The property includes many outdoor educational and recreational opportunities and  wildlife habitat that is already established. The 4-H Foundation was happy to sell the land to the INHF, whose mission and goals will help continue the legacy of the Camp.

The Iowa 4-H Foundation sold the property to grow other aspects of the 4-H Program in Iowa. The funds will be permanently endowed to allow the funding to support 4-H in perpetuity.

Madrid Chosen for 2020 Community Visioning Program

The Community Visioning Program has chosen Madrid as one of 10 communities to receive support to make local improvements. Madrid met the criteria for the award by having fewer than 10,000 residents and having a group of local volunteers willing to participate in the visioning process.

This local team will work closely with technical experts from Trees Forever, ISU Extension, and the Iowa State University Department of Landscape Architecture to create a transportation enhancement plan reflecting the values and identity of Madrid.

More information is available at the ISU Extension website.
