If you have comments, suggestions or questions regarding these areas, please attend this meeting. The October 5 Public Forum is in place of the public comment period originally announced for the regularly scheduled Boone County Conservation Board meeting on October 9, 2017; there will not be a public comment period on October 9. The forum will be held at the Swede Point Park shelter house. The address is 1601 322nd Lane, Madrid, IA 50156.

High Trestle Trail Bridge–New Light Schedule

The High Trestle Trail Bridge lights will be turned off at 10:30 pm beginning Monday, September 25, 2017. These special hours are being implemented in an effort to reduce noise along the rural areas near homes and the bridge, including the Grant Woods parking lot along QF Lane. Normal winter hours, with lights ending at 9pm, will begin November 1.

Other options for reducing noise are being considered for next year; an ideal solution would be for trail users to make an effort to be quieter while using the trail during night-time hours. Thick summer vegetation hides the homes and makes it difficult for trail users to be aware of where their choices may affect others.
