Madrid Police Hand out Tickets to Encourage Bike Safety

The Madrid Police Department is working with the Madrid Filling Station to encourage bike safety. Officers will watch for young bikers wearing helmets and protective gear, stopping at stop signs, using hand signals, and looking both ways at intersections. Selected individuals will be stopped for a photo and given a “ticket,” which will be redeemable for an ice cream reward at the Filling Station ice cream shop. Each individual will also be placed in a drawing for a new bike and safety gear to be presented at the Madrid Labor Day Celebration by the Chief of Police and the Madrid City Council’s Public Safety Chairperson, Lane Shaver.
